Treatment Of Hemorrhoids

Before we can even begin to discuss how hemorrhoids are treated, it's imperative to know what they are. To start, hemorrhoids are piles of infected, swollen and inflamed veins that are typically located around one's anus. However, they are not limited to the outside of the body. Some individuals can have internal hemorrhoids, as well. Some of the things that can cause hemorrhoids include, but are not limited to the following: anal sex, aging, strain while going to the bathroom, and pregnancy. Symptoms include itching, discharge, bleeding, and pain. Extremely uncomfortable, they are typically labeled by how severe they are, by being placed in a category of one of four possible levels. These levels are as follows.

First Degree Hemorrhoids. These hemorrhoids bleed, but do not fall out of place from the anus.

Second Degree Hemorrhoids. After using the bathroom to make stool, these retract on their own randomly.

Third Degree Hemorrhoids. These hemorrhoids literally require for one to place them back inside the anus by hand once they have fallen out of place.

Fourth Degree Hemorrhoids. After these hemorrhoids have fallen just below the anus, the veins begin to constrict and cannot be replaced by hand at all.

As far as treatment of hemorrhoids are concerned, there are several. Regardless of whatever treatment option is chosen, one thing is clear. They all have the same purpose, which is to help alleviate symptoms. One way to treat hemorrhoids is by taking 10-minute baths in warm water. Another is to apply creams or lotions that are specifically made for hemorrhoids. If necessary, doctors may sometimes suggest an increase in daily intake of fiber and liquids, as well as multivitamins or supplements. The reason why doctors may sometimes suggest fiber is because fiber, combined with the proper amount of water, results in less strain when going to the bathroom. In turn, this helps alleviate pressure, and also prevents the possibility for hemorrhoids to force themselves out.
